 Wind still down light in the morning's and picking up in the afternoon E NE . Threw top water and sea devil's caught more little fish but at the end of the day still had a good day . First went were we had so much bait the day before and it showed up even more but left very fast not to be found again , so we moved deeper and started catching again late . But we did catch just not like the day before ,Bob and myself watched as Josh had a great day like Rob the day before . We ended up the day pretty strong with 20 trout to 21 inches and 9 mud suckers another good day at the office , the kind i like to see . After a pretty good week of fishing i was looking forward to Bob and his boy's Josh, Rob, Kevin and friend the morning wasn't bad winds light out of the West Northwest becoming a little calmer later in the morning . Water still fresh but down, so now we need some high Tide's to flush out the system , we chunked top waters and sea devil's and to all we did good . On the first spot's we caught a few but when i went were we had been doing good later in the day it was on , no big fish just good solid fish , Bob's boy's did good and managed a good stringer of mud suckers and trout to 24 inches , they basically caught fish all day . Had to go a little deep to find them but find them we did and what a good day of fishing with 25 trout and 15 mud sucker's , now for the cleaning part . GOOD DAY KEN |

Winds down more but still out of the west , after fishing most of the morning and coming up with 15 or so trout and one mud sucker , found out we had to head in early so didn't get to check out Tim's theory . Did manage to catch a mess of fish and head in early which is always a plus for me . Bar any major weather change they should hold in good , we will be back . GOOD DAY KEN |

Big fish Tim ,Shaughn , TJ and friend showed up just right , tried one last time on spots that had been hot , winds were SSW a lot lighter than the last outing , water not bad . Caught fish just about all day just a lot of good one's but we kept hoping they would grow , about 2:00 pm right on schedule according to Tim it got crazy or was it that i finally pulled my head out and found them . No matter we had a trout fest and caught our limit many times over and good fish to 25 inches after ton's of little mud suckers had 4 of them , but the 20 great trout that we did catch may ed up for that with the non stop action we had . How great it is when you get lucky and find some good fish sure does make you feel better . Hope it holds for tomorrow sure was fun maybe Tim will catch a big one again . Sea devils i hope will be as deadly as today they worked good in the deep water were the fish are holding in . GOOD DAY KEN |

Winds still blowing SSW 15+ mph , water not good color , fished 3 ft fished 5 ft caught a few not any good ones ,we worked hard all day . Sea devils top water you name it we threw it . After all day grinding we found them on the last spot, the outcome was much better 13 mud suckers 5 trout all were good ones to 24 inches . We got to go home and clean fish i was excited , cleaning fish means a better day always looking forward to the next day out . Ray , Bob, Mitch, Greg , Wade were all troopers and stuck with it and it payed off . GOOD DAY KEN |

Winds SSW 15+ mph increasing in early afternoon ,water dropped to normal levels should get salt water back in . Started out were we had been on the mud suckers good but it was the same all day , fish didn't want to cooperate at all, Ray and his group have always done well but this day was not one of them . Caught little fish but just could not get on good one's only had six mud suckers and 5 trout . Still had a great time with these guys which do like to have fun , maybe tomorrow we will kick them . Well it was calm again , went were i thought would be , it was great released 2 trout over 27 super spook juniors ate their lunch sea devils were also deadly we all stayed close to each other on a tight group of trout and mud suckers . Water wasn't that bad it was ok clear, moved out to a little more to off colored water and continued catching good no great trout to 26 inches and a couple more over 28 inches were released . We ended up the day with a great catch of 20 trout to 26 or 6 1/2 pounder and bigger and 10 mud suckers . It was a good return for Buddy and Dennis after all these years of not coming i had fun with them as i always did , it was a fun 2 day's of fishing, big fish are still here hope they hold . Some old friends Buddy and Dennis Robert who i had grown up with , and Donnie came down after not comming for a few years . Started out at the say place on mud suckers , with the calm winds i thought it would be great, but the first stop in shallow water was pretty slow caught a couple of mud suckers and a couple of trout . Went looking found one spot that caught a few fish , but just looked good for next day . We threw top waters but did our best with sea devil's when we went out to deeper water and got on good trout to 26 inches and released a couple over 25 in the 28-29 inch range . I hope we loose the fresh water soon so the water won't be off color look forward to catching these great fish in clear water , but just catching them period is good . Ended up with a great catch of trout to 251/2 inches 25 of them and 4 mud suckers looks like it might slowing down a little on them , hope not we have had fun catching mud suckers . Today winds started out a little brisk at about 15 increasing all day long S - SE in afternoon . Went back to the shallow water and this time it was Dwayne and his boy that got in good on the Mud Sucker's, by the time we left that spot we had a good catch of mud sucker's again . Went to the trout honey hole wind was up by then to 20+ mph . The water was off color but still caught a few trout to 24 inches and one released over 25 inches . The day was still a great day of quality fish on both mud sucker's and trout had 10 of each and lost many more all big fish . What else could you ask for great fishing with great friends . Didn't realize it was Friday the thirteenth but Dwayne brought it up after we started out . He was with Craig and his 2 boys and Clinton Dwayne's son . Started out in shallow water and moved deeper later in the day , winds were out of the South at about 15-18 mph and increasing in the afternoon , water still fresh on top . Started out with SSJuniors , and when they would miss follow back with a sea devil . We fished in the one spot for about 4 hours which is how long they have been holding shallow then we move deeper . After the first stop it would be hard to beat after non stop Mud Sucker action and a few ok trout , we grabbed a snack and set off looking for more action .Which we found a little later in 3-5 ft water depth off color water and just had a catch a thon on great trout to 7 3/4 lb trout and a lot of 22 - 26 inchers which did turn loose a couple of others that were on the upper end lenght wise . So headed home after a good day of fishing 12 mud suckers and 15 trout 19 28 inches . Sure hope that tomorrow will be as good as Friday the thirteenth . The amount of big trout in the area is incredible, it's August and it's on for a while , sure feels good to get back in some good trout with the great Mud Sucker action . What a GOOD DAY KEN |

Woke up to almost no wind out of the west later switching to the NW,N,NE,E,and fianally SE . Did about the same route , fished in 3 ft water depth starting in the same place , bait finally showed but not as many fish , throwing SSJuniors , and sea devils . We caught some good trout and mud suckers , but it was a little slower and since Aaron needed to get back real early we went looking . We found the fish again and left while they were biting , but thats ok still ended up with 10 trout to 21 inches and 9 mud suckers i think i have figured out the trout looking forward to next group to test my theory hopefully it works out . We did get on the trout pretty good in the one spot so we will go back there and try next outing . GOOD DAY KEN |

Aaron flew into port with his son Ryan and his friends , with wind not bad 5-10 mph . Went straight to where we have been finding lots of bait working , in about 3 ft water depth throwing super spook juniors , and sea devils . It was really great to watch the fish fight in the clear water , which is still pretty fresh but getting better . Caught some good trout to 25 inches at the first stop and quite a few mud suckers . Left that area went to the next stops and just tore up the mud suckers which have been really good the past several weeks ,and a few more trout which have been very scattered with the fresh water in the bay . Still had a decent showing with 12 mud suckers and 10 trout to 25 inches , not a bad day considering the water freshness . I still believe long term is going to be great i am seeing more shrimp working shallow than i have seen in years . After a good day went home for a little r&r . GOOD DAY KEN |

Thank GOD for mud suckers , saved my bacon again . Every place we stopped and waded we caught lots of mud suckers everybody caught them , water still same as day before , color is good , top waters and sea devils worked well , fishing 3-6ft water depth . Ended up being a tough day on trout , did manage to catch 10 and another limit on mud suckers , i think even with this high water i have figured out a pattern, that last about 4 hours then it go's south after that . Still no rain if it keeps on going this way we should start loosing or water this week , can't wait, short term is a killer but long term it will be great for the water and the fishery . Jack and the boys did like having a good trip on mud suckers and trout Butch out did himself he was on big time we just all followed him it paid off . GOOD DAY KEN |

Water still up same level , Jack and Doc Bill , Butch and Mike showed up fairly early and i got to explain that we might have to do a lot of drifting . After a little complaining they saw i wasn't joking , winds are great SSE light most of the day , water still good color . First stop found us on a big school of mud suckers and we just tore them up and several trout to 25 inches, top waters and sea devils did great . We made 2 stops and had our limit of mud suckers and i miss counted and we were shy 1 trout, a good day on both . Hopefully this trend will keep up and we can have a few more easy days , glad we didn't have to do any drifting did it all wading it was great . Today started out weather wise ,better than the day before it wasn't raining when we left , wind not bad SSE water higher than yesterday but good color . Drifted a lot water just to deep for wading were the trout are located , lots of small fish . Should have had a limit of mud suckers just couldn't get them in when we hooked them, did end up with 10 big boys and 10 nice trout to 23 inches . Charles and the guys were troopers and hung in, they new that it was going to be tough with all the fresh water . I can see light at the end of the tunnel no rain today if this pattern continues the water should start going down in the next week or so , and when it does look out it is going to go crazy . Charles Ken Theron and Justin showed up just in time to enjoy the high water which i had hoped would start down . As of now it is still up ,winds aren't much so that is a plus , water color is good . We fished hard and caught a lot of fish they were just small , the mud suckers are still hanging in . Our first stop we walked up on a school of mud suckers with some trout to 25.6 inches , it was great just didn't last long a big thunderstorm moved right in on us, had to run . Came right back when it passed the school was gone , caught a few more fish through the day . We got tired of running from storms so went home for the day . We did manage to catch a good mess of 9 mud suckers and 10 real good trout to 25.6 inches , we are all hoping that the storms will go away tomorrow so we can get serious about catching some fish . Bret who came down with 3 other guys has been coming for 20 yrs , wre in for a supprise when they arrived after the last tropical storm . The winds were not that bad out of the SSE but the water was 2 ft above normal and not going down . We threw top waters and sea devils the mud suckers went crazy worked hard to get everyone on some fish . Only managed to catch 10 mud suckers and 8 trout , had a good day on mud suckers hope tomorrow we can catch a few more trout . good day KEN |

Day 2 of the Austin boys i will keep it short i got behind on reports did better than yesterday throwing top waters and sea devils tore up the mud suckers again 15 mud suckers and 12 trout to 25 inches . Winds ESE 5 mph i can't keep up any pattern the weather is never the same 2 or 3 days in a row . The water is still high about 1ft , but it is in good shape today with the E winds , threw sea devils grass is just to much . Fished 3- 6 ft water depth , everybody came back to the boat with smiles every time, today it was a good day of catching . John Morgan who is the pastor of Sagemont Church came back to the boat a couple times with thumbs up Mike did real good as did Joseph and his boy , we could have caught dozens of limits just another one of those days that overshadow the bad one's this day did that . I really like it when the guys catch a lot of fish it is the biggest reward i can ever get smiles are priceless . Mike , John have been down several times before but Joseph and his boy it was their first time down , right off the winds were now blowing SSW 12-16 mph early water up again, and not in good shape very off were i catch fish sometimes . We threw everything we had it was just a tough day but everyone held tough and worked hard , ended up with 5 mud suckers 8 trout pretty slow even on little fish . Winds calm maybe 3 mph SSW switching a little more W later morning then going SSE in afternoon 10-15 mph , water good Craig , Allan, Tod , Josh and his boy and Ray . Tide now down drop 2 ft since Tuesday about normal now . Top water still hard for all the grass but caught a few on them sea devils did well just for the grass , the fish were just wanting anything, we gave it to them . I could finally get to the fish and it was great caught fish all day long went back to the lodge well satisfied , the boys had some drinks and set about the lies of the day it was great . Ended the day i am happy to say with 25 trout to 25 inches and 5 mud suckers just another GOOD DAY KEN . |

Well all i can say is maybe next time winds still a problem with wrong direction but you just have to go with what you got . Water not all that bad just couldn't get on the trout the way i like did get a few mud suckers again , the guys held fast and worked hard but it once again didn't happen the way we wanted . We threw sea devils , super spook juniors , just no takers had a great time with some more good sportsmen they had fun catching mud suckers and a few trout . Greg and group ended the day with a great catch of 10 mud suckers and 9 trout like the day before good solid fish . The winds are still blowing SSE at 15+ mph , threw top waters again caught a few great mud suckers , went to sea devils later and did good . Mud suckers saved my bacon, trout is real tough right now , still fishing 3-5 ft water depth were i can find it . Ground hard all day long finally called the dogs it just wasn't gonna get any better than 14 mud suckers , 12 trout to 22 inches . John Mark,Kevin , Andrew came back to see a repeat of the last trip , wind at about 15 mph at daylight and increasing in the afternoon , tides running high about 2-3 ft above normal , threw sea devils and top water SS Juniors . Found some water to wade about waist deep , started out fast everybody was on, then it went dead caught a few fish there then started grinding , didn't set the world on fire but did catch a few mud suckers , the trout took a vacation . The rest of the day went pretty slow so headed in with 8 mud suckers , and 4 trout , and caught more mud suckers but couldn't get them in . The storms did affect the trout hope it won't for long . Winds were light out of the SSW , looked like a good morning to take the wife fishing since the water was up from the dam still open and had a cancellation earlier, i thought i would take some time to recharge . We got right on a big bunch of mud suckers , and some trout to 28 inches jumping over my super spook junior , Terrie thought that was neat to see a big trout jump over the lure and try to hit it again as he was going back into the water . We threw tops and sea devils Terrie caught her a limit of mud suckers and several trout on her own which was fun to watch . The water was in great shape on color and clarity still has quite a bit of fresh with it but is starting to drop a few inches a day . This fall is going to be great the stage is set , i believe it will be one of the best fall years we have had in a while , on fish and dove its going to be good looking forward to it . Had my kids and grand kids come in for a few days enjoyed one good day of fishing on Saturday . Chris , Jamie , Mike and son in law Daniel , all did well and caught a lot of fish . After 2 storms i didn't know what it would do winds were still blowing 15 mph and upward . All we threw was top waters Daniel , and Jamie both did well for there first time out . Water was in good shape and all we used was super spook Juniors . Went in early to spend time with grand kids , a good five man & Woman limit of 17-23 inches , and 5 mud suckers . Well as always it didn't hold winds came back 10-15 mph at daylight out of the S , water a little off , threw the same top waters as the day before and sea devils , the devils did good, all the guys struggled ,it was a tough day . We finally came in with a full limit on trout and a few mud suckers . Only had a couple trout over 25 inches today but that's still some good fish . Rick and Robert didn't make it last year so it was good to see them again Troy hadn't been in a couple years Winston , and Donnie was their first time they were great guys also . After a couple good days on the water ate some yard bird and kicked back . It couldn't get much better than this last week with great guys and friends to come down and fish with me . Things looked like they were shaping up for Rick , Robert , Troy , Donnie , Winston , and they did, today was one of those days . Winds were right light out of the SSE ,throwing the old sea devils and some super spook juniors and corkies , we waled on the mud suckers, and big trout to 29 inches . Only kept one over 25 inches tried to let it go but it died . Still fishing 3-5 ft water depth , water is in good shape . Don stayed with the corky and caught quite a few toads , we stayed with tails and super spook juniors , and tore up the mud suckers as well as some good trout . Came in cooked up some burgers and relaxed got ready for the next day looking forward to the same kind of day. Winds up more from the day before headed out with high hopes of calming some, it did but not long . The water held good on color , threw sea devils no top water fished 3-5 ft depth . Seems that is were the trout really like now for sure , we all struggle today but did finally catch a limit for four and only 3 mud suckers . Woke to the winds still blowing 15 at daylight increase 20+ in the afternoon , went right back to were we left them biting caught a few . Ha all morning long had a bent rod fishing heavy 3-5 ft water dept . Tried to throw top waters just to much grass , sea devils again came to the rescue , water holding good despite the winds . Gary came through again with big trout and big mud sucker , Clay has been down before his two friends Te and Kevin was their first time they did well caught a lot of fish . As i had wanted ,caught more mud suckers for the bass fishermen, its always a treat to watch when they hook up on one , it seems to covert them . Well we caught quite a few mud suckers little ones and biggins , we headed home after a good day of catching with limits of trout to 24 inches most around 18-20 inches , had 11 big mud suckers and lost many more . After a week and a half of winds howling, there still here i thought when Gary, his son Clay and his two friends showed up we might get a break . Didn't happen winds 15+ at daylight and increasing to 20+ in the afternoons . Fishing in 3-5 ft water depth , sea devils is all we could use lots of grass , water ok , water temp great upper 80s . After a little bit of a slow start the fish went crazy or should i say finally found them , it was non stop the rest of the day lots of trout from 10 inches to 25 inches , most were around 18-20 inches . We also caught a lot of little mud suckers , only managed to keep 4 . It was real nice sticking fish all day especially after the recent draught i had once again makes the bad days easier to swallow , i just wish the last couple groups i had put them on the fish . Sure hope this keeps up makes the days so much easier looking forward to another good day tomorrow . Ended the day with limits of trout to 25 inches , and 4 mud suckers maybe tomorrow more of them. Winds still blowing 15 mph at daylight going 20+ in afternoon , again threw everything in the book , fishing 3-5ft water depth , fish still have lock jaw . It is a little tough on Marks Boy tides are a little up which is not the norm this time of the year , but the clean water coming in is always a plus . Later in the day got on a little school of trout to 19 inches , then found a few mud suckers . Still the fish are hiding from me , i will find them on next outing i am pretty sure it is on the rebound with what i saw today . Really looks good for the next guys which is a shame i wanted Marks boy to do good , i am sure they will come back and we will tear them up . It was great having Mark come in we got to relive a lot of old times and had a lot of fun fishing , they were good fishermen not much else to report just another good day on the water . Real excited about Mark and his son Graham , and father in law Jim coming in for a couple days i grew up with Mark and just recently met up with Mark . The winds are not the problem i don't know why the fish got lock jaw , after a day of real hard fishing just not good success . After the last few weeks of good fishing i was real excited about Chad ,Jim and Terrie fishing with me and after a tough day fishing shallow and deep 3-5 ft , had a hard time connecting with a lot of fish . At about 1:00 am i heard thunder in the distance then it hit wow did it hit , coming out of the west hard . At 9:oo am we started getting ready it was still raining . Shortly after that we set sail , the first stop was a little off color , throwing sea devils that did well we caught a few fish one over 26.6 inches , and a few 19-20s . We continued to fish 3-5 ft water depth with good luck on smaller fish so we went looking . With time short because Mike and crew had to leave by 2:00 the pressure was on but we did it , knocked out a limit of 18-20 inch trout and headed home . Ended up the day with limits of 18 to 26 inch . trout not to bad after the weather we had most of the day . What a lot of fun water was a little cooler which made it great like being in the tub . Mike his brother and dad , came down for a couple days of fishing , with the winds nice out of ESE light not getting over 10-15 mph , water holding good color . Started out a little slow , but we soon got busy catching some 24 - 25 inchers and releasing them , of course some didn't make it so we did keep some , we caught most of the fish in 3-5 ft water depth , the guys threw top waters to good results of nice trout in the 22-24 inch range , and sea devils did good also . We had a blast watching the toads just killing the top waters we threw . We had a hard time on the mud suckers but that is ok when you catch the trout we were catching , good hard fighting that they were . We released a lot of 18-20 inch fish after we had finished our limits and a few over 25 inches . Just one of those days i have talked about before were nothing you did was wrong . Wade showed up last night to hear the stories of the day before , he was ready , left out early to a good stiff breeze from the S at about 15 mph , a little while after the sun came up it laid back and stayed at about 10-12 mph all day . Hit our first stop but nobody seemed to be home , finally found some good fish in the second and third stops . Water color was good , but had to slip out to a little deeper water about 4 ft depth , top waters didn't produce the way they did the day before , but the old sea devils tore them up . The water feels great in the upper 80s , color is holding good . Caught trout to 26 inches and a lot of 20-23 inch fish , more of them than the 18 inchers . Mitch ended up winning the bets they had on mud sucker with the most spots and the big trout 26 7/8 , bob was wining on mud suckers until then and Ray was in first until Mitch came on and beat him . It was just all fun , another good day of fishing it's what i like to see the guys catching fish . Ended up the day with limits of trout to 26 7/8 only a few were under 20 inches , 6 mud suckers to 27.6 inches . Another day of catching , bob had another good day as well as Frank and Mitch and Wade we all did good, this is what makes my day always , good fish and great guys . Ray , Mitch , Frank and Bob who have been coming down for about 15 years showed up early on Thursday ready to fish . Got up to calm winds from the NNW switching to W then SW then S then SE and E where it stayed most of the day never over 12 mph . Water color was great , fishing in 3-5 ft water depth , water temp still in upper 80s . Right off started catching some nice trout to 29 inches most were 20-26 inches and a lot of 18 inches which Frank had a hard time turning loose . We threw top waters super spook juniors and sea devils and did good on both , catching fish all day . Bob had one of his best trips ever , which i enjoyed seeing him do everybody else did like they always do catch fish especially Ray . We had a great time caught a lot of fish and had fun . All the fish hit good and fought well , on the top waters big trout crashed them like they hadn't eaten in a month . It truly was a good day of catching , of course any time Frank lost a good fish he cussed my bar bless hooks giving me a hard time , Wade is suppose to show up tomorrow i hope it is as good as today . Ended up with our limits of trout between 18 to 26 inches and releasing a 29 incher , only had one mud sucker they just played hard to get , there is always tomorrow for them . GOOD DAY CAPT. KEN |

Lewis called at the last minute and had his dad Kieth coming in from Georgia and wanted him to try wade fishing . So we headed out to the winds out of the SSW light and slowly switching to the ESE 10-15 mph , fishing in 3-5 ft water depth was good on Kieth's back . Showed and old bass fisherman from Georgia what wade fishing was like in South Texas he wasn't disappointed . With the water holding clear , it was great, no top water or mirror lures the grass was just to much , but that's ok we still caught limits of trout to 26.6 and limit of mud suckers to 27 inches throwing the old sea devils . The fish are on, this sure makes you forget the past slow days , looks like it's on now hopefully it will continue , if not we will always have a good time on the water , looking forward to some days ahead like we just had . Left out this morning hoping it would be like yesterday we were not disappointed . Winds were a little more out of the west at about 8-10 mph switching slowly around to the ESE and staying light , still looking at the moon as the sun came up , water still holding good color . After we got to the first spot caught a few fish but after that we were on , caught fish all day non stop . Fishing 3-5 ft water depth was very comfortable, with the temp up in the 80s even i didn't get cold . Threw sea devils and later broke out the 4r mirror lures and caught some real good toads , top water worked great when we could find an opening where the grass wasn't to thick that was a challenge in itself . John asks me after a while if we could look for some mud suckers so i looked , didn't have to look hard after breaking off several mud suckers finally started getting them to the baskets , in the clear water watching the reds fight is always a hoot . John ended up winning the fish pot again with a 26.6 inch mud sucker and a 25.6 inch trout , there is no telling how many big trout and reds got broke off , but that is just part of it . Paul and Marty had never fished like this before they are now hooked on wade fishing . After a day of catching limits of trout to 25.6 , and 8 mud suckers from 24 to 26 inches we went home well satisfied , the trout were all 18-25.6 more on the upper end . Wow what a good day winds light W switching to SW then ESE light all day , water color great , water temp 80s . fishing 3-5 ft water depth . John his Dad MARTY and PAUL came in on a perfect time of weather water and everything lined up just right . The moon was full but that had no effect on us at all . Started catching fish in first stop then moved to second and third stop , caught fish all day long . John won the fish pot with a 23 inch trout . Was not any big fish caught but just a lot of 18- 23 inch trout there was nothing we could do wrong . The guys threw sea devils and some top water and had a lot of action on all , i really think we just got in May pattern and quickly is going into June pattern . The group caught limits of trout many times over , of course i missed the mud suckers but its just so hard to leave fish when there biting . Looks like tomorrow will be the same weather should get better we will see . After a day of limits of trout and 2 mud suckers went home with smiles on all faces . GOOD DAY CAPT. KEN

Donald showed up with his sons Don and Shawn after a 2 year delay from the storms that hit the Galveston area Rita Ike . Winds of course were 20 mph at daylight again , water color good had a good tide come in and has stayed . Fished 3-5 ft water depth , threw sea devils , water temp good upper 70s low 80s . The day was better caught a lot of fish in the 22- 24 inch range more to my liking . The Royals were good guys and had fun with them hope they come back sometime i enjoy teaching new things to people , such as no barbs on hooks , and not using pliers on the fish and being able to release the fish with little or no harm to the fish . Gary showed up for a couple days of good fishing of course the winds were back blowing hard at daylight don't know how hard , water off color , fished 3-5 ft water depth , threw top waters sea devils . We fished hard and still not what i like to see a few small fish nothing real good , now i am not talking 30 inches or anything like that just good solid fish 20-25 that's what i like to see people catch . Day two tournament ,winds better E SE 10 to 15 mph , just right i was thinking as we were going out , fished different areas in 3-5 ft water , threw sea devils, top waters and anYthing else we could find , water better color . Started out much better catching fish right off not big just ok , i thought we would try some other places , but didn't work out that way , a big thunderstorm came in and ran us off the water . Opening day of tournament hit the water hard ,of course not as hard as the wind which was around 20 mph at daylight and increasing in the afternoon , water still off color , we fished shallow deep and in between , we threw top waters, sea devils spoons everything we could throw , just no takers . Water temp is ok now finally got out of the waders . Do not know what happened went from good fish to small fish overnight , but like i always say it makes you appreciate the good days more . I am sure it will get better soon it always does, can't wait . Did weigh in or tournament limit , did catch a limit of trout and a few mud suckers just not up to what i thought we should do . David Kirk , and their group showed up to fish a tournament, and the winds were howling , water off color , fishing every lure we could , fishing 3-5ft water depth . Pulled all the stops out caught a few decent fish nothing to win a tournament with . But that is ok we had a good time catching a few fish . Woke up excited winds down to 8-10 mph ESE , water color got much better . I told Randy and Walt that this is when we were going to tear em up . Fishing 3-5 ft water depth , throwing top waters and sea devils , it was slow all day . What seemed like good conditions did not help, the fish got another case of lock jaw . It seems like early April conditions ,the fish seem still spooky when any pressure changes occur . We managed to grind out a limit 17-22 inches and a couple more mud suckers . Randy and Walt had a flight out early afternoon so we headed in early , but that was ok we had a great time . Later that day a good friend was in town and came by and had talked to a lot of fishermen that reported no catches, so i was not quite as frustrated after hearing that news , but that is fishing some days catching and some days fishing. Winds blowing 18-20 at daylight which is not new , another front headed our way . Randy and Walt flew in to have a couple days of fun in the sun , which we did have . Fishing 3-5 ft water depth , with some success on top waters but mainly on sea devils we started a little slow and did ok the rest of the day . Finally warm enough to wet wade for me anyway, temps about upper 70s , water color was off , with lots of grass . Managed to catch a couple of mud suckers with some good trout we caught up to 23 inches . Stuck a lot of fish before managed to catch a limit of keepers from 17-23 inches . But that was ok, we were catching that's what i like to see , it was a good trip Randy and Walt where both outstanding fishermen and just nice guys , looking forward to the second day hoping to run across some good solid toads . After a short vacation a friend of 15 years booked me for a day of therapy , he got it .Winds were 9-12 mph S with just a little W and finally kicking up to normal about 2:00 at about 15-20 mph, once the wind hit high gear the fish really turned on. Water color was ok , water temp is upper 70s, first day of not freezing wet wade . Threw top waters had some big trout hit at the super spook juniors i was throwing but mostly small on top 15-16 incher's , went to 3-5 ft water throwing sea devils and caught fish at every stop, limits many times over . Bob and myself just had a great day of fishing and did a lot of catching . Really looking forward to the group coming next, hopefully it will be as successfull , i know it will be as much fun . Got up to another cold front only the winds were about 20-30 NNW switching to NE then finalLy ESE . The water turned bad color , but that was ok still caught a couple fish . Stayed a little shallower the guys did not have waders . Threw sea devils top waters everything we had just tough fishing . After a day of tough fishing we started going back to the house to relax , on the way i tried one last spot . The water had gotten a little better color , stopped on the edge of good water and a little deeper 3-5 ft . Good stop finished up our limit of solid 16-22 inch fish , and a couple more mud suckers i know Andrew wanted some good fish but i just could not find them the last 2 days , but we did catch alot of fish , and that is what i think we all like to do . Got Andrew , Kevin , William , and Bill up to very little wind light ESE and overcast , water temp still in low 70s , water color is ok , water still a little chilly , with no wind after daylight it stayed that way the kiss of death sometimes today was that day . Fishing was very slow caught a few fish through the day nothing to write home about . We threw everything but the kitchen sink it was just slow . About 2:oo the wind started blowing fairly hard at 15 + mph , then it was on didnot take us long we had our limits fast . Headed home with a couple of mud suckers and a nice stringer of trout , the guys caught a lot and had a great time , only had one to 25 inches the rest 18-20 good solid trout . Winds still out of the NNE 5-10 mph , just can not seem to shake this winter . Got right on the fish in 3-5 ft water depth caught fish until we got tired after the day before , we got spoiled most of the fish were 18-20 inches no big ones just a lot of them . Sea devils and super spook juniors both did well . Water temp is up and down now in the low 70s , after about 3 hours of catching fish non stop i ask Tim if he wanted to go try for another big one he is like myself why leave when your catching fish every cast . After a great morning of catching trout we went looking for mud suckers ended up with one unlike the day before , but with a weather pattern we are in its tough . So after a great day of catching we came in to relax and had a great evening of talking about the last 2 days which in my books was very successful . Today of course another front came in wind NNW 10-15 mph ,just enough to blow the water out some . As Tim and myself headed out in search of a big trout which is all he wanted we saw some deer crossing , i was not paying attention next thing i was raising the motor so it wouldnt drag through the mud and we were sitting in 2 inches of water . With no hope of getting it out i called a friend with an airboat to pull me out ,after a couple hours they showed up , just in time to see Tim land a 31 inch 9lb trout in the deepest water close to the boat which was 4 inches . Right before they got there we saw the trout swim by in front of us we thought it was a mud sucker but then realized it was a big trout , that is when Tim jump out and nailed him . After we got going again couldnt locate but a couple more trout , we did however nail the mud suckers . So after a good successful day of big trout and mud suckers went home and kicked back. What a day, if i had not seen it i would not have believe what happened , but i guess good things do come from bad things . The winds calmed quite a bit ESE 5-10 and for a short time went calm , went to one area maybe pick up a few mud suckers throwing top waters only caught a couple and some decent trout , ended up finding alot of trout in 3-5 ft water , Gary commented on how warm the water was later in the day upper 70s , Mike after a little while used some sea devils as they were working great for Chad, Gary stayed with his bass assassins . It was kind of slow in the morning but later in the day we kicked em good . After a day of catching good fish we headed home to talk about the day out, even though what we caught were mainly 19- 22 inch trout and 1 mud sucker those are great fighters this time of the year . Its hard to explain how much you can enjoy catching hundreds of trout in any one day and as i always like to teach everybody barbless is not that bad ,you dont loose fish like people think . Chad Gary and Mike woke up this morning to rain and wind , out of the east15+ mph. But with these east wind good color water is coming in with the high tides . Water temp still holding mid 70s . Started out a little slow but found the fish in 3-5 ft water depth . Once i located where those suckers where hiding those boys went to work on them they threw some top water but they had their best luck with bass assassin i of course threw sea devils . In the afternoon as the winds increased the bite got better , we didnt catch any big fish but our poles were bent a lot and that is what it is all about . We ended up with most of our fish in the 19-22.6 inch class which is good solid fish in anybodies book . Had a great time with guys that liked catching there limit many times over , by using barbless hooks most fish were released unharmed . So after a great day of catching we head home for a few cocktails and talking trash . Just another great day in paradise maybe tomorrow i will relocate the mud suckers . GOOD DAY CAPT. KEN |

Got Aron and will Gene and Don up with the smell of bacon and rain on the roof along with a lot of wind ESE 15+ again and increasing mid morning , water color still improving , water temp holding mid to upper 70s , Will couldnot get enough of the plum and red but Aron and Gene , Don like chartreuse on chartreuse . We caught as many 20-24 inch trout as the day before just nothing over 25 inches .Fish still holding in 3-5 ft water depth , tried shallow just werent there, BUT all is looking good now with water temp on the rise and good water coming in LOOK OUT its happening . Woke up to light rain and a lot of wind out of the east 15+ at daylight and increasing in the afternoon, water is looking better with some higher tides , water about mid to upper 70s . Started out a little slow but caught good solid fish all day sea devils and some top waters a little slow on top waters . Aron and Will have been through these type wind before with me but Gene and Don were a little concerned , we got lucky and every stop produced up to 27 inches , and a lot of 20-24 inch trout . Mud suckers in the areas we fished just did not hold , with trout like we caught i will take it every day . With good fishermen like this to have a good day is worth any of the slow days. Woke up to 25 mph winds out of the S ,once again another cold front approaching ,decided to reverse the day before on spots we tried , water bad color, stuck it out in 3-5ft depth , it paid off big time . Shortly after we got to first spot and waves breaking over our heads the old sea devils went to work it was non stop all morning long . We got our limits in one spot and caught and released a hundred plus trout . I found the water temp was about the same upper 60s low 70s Creg , Rex , & Ray had a hot hand , Alan struggled all morning maybe next time . We just could not do anything wrong the group had 3 fish under 19 inches on trout , i even played with top water could not get any takers . Ray caught the big mud suckers , all the rest of us could catch were small ones , but they were still fun . A little later went looking for some bigger ones and caught some 24 inch trout just couldnt connect on any more mud suckers . After a week of warm up Alan ,Creg who has been fishing with me for years came back to good weather winds NNE changing to E then SE started out 5-10 increasing in afternoon to 15 mph , water was ok color , water temp went up to high 60s low 70s , hit first spot hard only came away with a few fish , but second spot was pretty hot . Throwing sea devils we got into some good trout to 24.6 most averaged 18-21 inches , only a couple mud suckers . Still fishing 3-5ft water depth , tried shallower but in the deeper water is were we found them , caught fish pretty much most of the day Rex , and RAY connected with a few good ones but Alan and Creg had a hot hand on the third stop we left them biting . After a good day of catching we headed for the house with a limit of good trout of which 5 were under 18 inches and a dozen from 21-24.6 inches , also dredged up 6 nice mud suckers . Big difference winds light 10-12 mph SSE and increased to 40+ after the cold front hit, but did calm before the front , found a pocket of good water and fished the water change in about 3-5 ft water , throwing sea devils ,water still has not rebounded to before last 2 fronts mid to upper 60s . Got on a little pod of trout caught a few there, then went to some of the other honey holes we fish but they were no longer honey holes . Managed to catch 15 trout to 23 inches before we had to get quickly back to the dock as another cold front came roaring in , had to stop on the way in saw a boat broke down of course it was overloaded , saw about 3 other boats go by them before us and acted like they did not see them and kept going, towed em in and went home , its not just an experience its an adventure still had a lot of fun with Charles and Gary and crew . It is springtime wind SSE 15-18 at daylight increasing to 30 in the afternoon, hit it hard with top waters and sea devils slow on top waters .Water after last front dropped down to low 60s , only fish we could find in 3-5ft water depth , in off colored water witch is everywhere . The good thing about the winds should bring some water back . Charles and Gary are regulars with a couple of others work hard and caught a few fish Ken Gray with his new LIL SPOON SPECIAL ROD did well and caught some good trout and mud suckers . Today was a little different wind ESE 10-18 and increasing after day light , started out throwing top waters had a few blow ups but the old sea devils kicked them again , water color if we can keep some ESE winds should get better as for now it is off color , fishing 3-5 ft water depth , water temp holding about mid 70s . The guys had to leave a little early so the pressure was on, caught a few fish early , but was just slow . Told the guys that the last spot was the honey hole and was saving it for last , it ended up being the honey hole left em biting thats the way i like it . Did not catch as many as the day before but i really think we would have , but thats ok we caught some and had fun always looking forward to next trip . Had a good group of guys come down Joe Amaya and his brother and a bunch they work with , started out a little windy 10-15 mph SSE after daylight calmed a little before the wind machine kicked in . Water temp is up mid 70s , water color way off , found most of the fish in 3-5 ft depth , top waters did not pay off but sea devils did well , caught trout to 24 inches , and man they were souped up, good fights even from the ones under 20 inches which there was not many of them . We ended up with 2 under 18 inches , even had a few mud suckers , the guys that came in were really great guys and i had a lot of fun , this is what makes my job so good is people like these that i have the pleasure of being with on a regular basis . This morning started out a little windy WNW 10-15 mph through the day switched all the way around to SE , We all regrouped and got serious , the sea devils paid off some , water still off color , and cool lower 60s , found most of our fish in 3-5 ft water depth . After a morning of hard fishing , finally found a group of fish in 3-5 ft water and worked on them ,caught some good mud suckers and trout to 24 inches ended up the day with an ok stringer of fish , still getting better all the time . Well not a lot going on Wayne and Casey came in for a couple days of fun and relaxation which we did do. The day started out calm and got calmer the old kiss of death , just about every place we tried water color was poor , water temp is low 60s maybe less , could not get any takers on top water but caught some fish on sea devils . Most of the fish were caught in 3-5ft water depth , had some fish to 22 inches did not catch any mud suckers . With the rest of the week having more than a half day of sun or just one day it may change this week looks like it will shine all week if that happens and stays that way for awhile , things will get right . Today started out a little warmer air temp upper 50s water temp up a little to maybe upper 60s , still fishing 3-5 ft water depth , fishing sea devils tried top waters no takers , water color still ok, winds were way down light out of the W switching SSW later in the day . Looked around the area from the day before found some decent fish Kirk could not stand it got out were i was and started catching some good fish and got his waders full it was not to bad it had warmed up a lot and with the neoprene he was ok . Worked hard and caught some fish . I was headed back to the boat when i herd kirk yell i turned to see him fight what looked like a good fish it was , a good trout that will live to see another day . Of course i caught hell about my barbless hooks which he knows as well as any good fisherman knows barbs do not hold fish . Called the day early went in cleaned our catch drank a few toties and fried them babies up man it was good . Finished up the day with 20 trout to 21.6 inches and 8 mud suckers . Kirk and Tim showed with their friends for a cool windy day of fun . With the winds starting out a little light but increasing early morning to 15-20 NNW , water color was ok , water temp mid 60s warming later in the day, lures used sea devils , some super spook junior , fishing 3-5 ft water depth . It started out a little slow but got some good activity late morning and early afternoon , managed to catch a few decent trout to 22 inches and a few mud suckers ,all in all a fun day really looking forward for some warmer weather i am tired of freezing . Welcome to day two, winds calm the kiss of death , water color ok water temp dropped a little, low 50s , top water did not work again sea devils did not work , fishing 3-5 ft water depth . Winds never picked up stayed calm all day . Tray and Tod were as shocked as i was to find out the fish got lock jaw would not turn on . Did not catch many fish at all , but i guess thats what they call fishing , catching is more fun but stilL had lots of fun with good people , looking forward to next outing . GOOD DAY OUT CAPT. KEN |

Started out a little later than normal wind out of the NNW 18-25 mph , water color was ok , water temp is cold mid 50s . After putting out decoys Tray and i did a little duck hunting after shooting our limits on ducks we picked up our rods and got down to business . Got the old sea devils out and started right off catching some good trout and mud suckers , fishing 3-5 ft water depth , the top waters just did not pay off . We caught fish until our arms hurt . Even Tod caught fish they were stacked in one area at the end of the day we could say left them biting , caught trout to 26.75 inches mud suckers to 30 inches , 15 trout to 26.75 inches and 9 reds to 30 inches .
